Past
Aodren is a man of legend. His story have been heard by many, or at least a version of it. He is Lucifer--the angel who was cast from grace after starting a rebellion in heaven. Many claim that he was the first angel to be cast from heaven. Others claims that there have been other angels who have fallen before him, but his own fall is given much more attention due to the position he held before he fell. He was the morning star, right hand of God, and his most beloved angel. Aodren doesn't know the truth of this matter nor does he care. It does not matter to him if he was the first, or if others had came before him.
There are those within heaven that claim they are not surprised by his fall. He was never the obedient one, always challenging his superiors, and marching to the beat of his own drum. Traits, they say, should have kept him from rising in rank in the first place. However, fate would decree that they wouldn't be the ones in charge of deciding who rose and who didn't. Those who were in charge of such things were impressed by his raw talents. He was quite literally a prodigy. These were talents that they hoped to fine-tune, and ones that made forgiving his quirks easy.
The fact he rose so quickly in rank only proved their belief, and Aodren had no reason to attempt to prove them wrong. He was happy with his position, but than it all changed when God decided to create the race of man. It was not the fact that he had created these beings that upset Aodren so greatly. It was the idea that he was suppose to revere and love these creatures just as he did their creator. He refused. They were imperfect. They were inferior to him--to all angels. Others shared similar beliefs. He rallied them against this 'blight' as he called it. He even managed to convince many of those who were more than willing to bend their knee to the human to his cause.
The great rebellion had started, and heaven was quite literally divided in half. However, every war most have an end and his eventually came. His side had lost, and was brought before God. He was commanded once again to bend his knee to the humans. He refused even as those who had once fought at his side fell into place. Not all did as was commanded. Some stood tall and proud at his side. They would share the same fate as he. After, attempting one more time to get him and his remaining forces to submit God decided to cast them from heaven.
He landed upon the earth away from the others that had been cast out. It was here that he would be found by her--the human girl that would steal his heart. She found him wounded upon the forest floor, and dragged him back to her cottage where she nursed him back to health. He made his disgust for her abundantly clear when he woke up, but since he was in no condition to be up and about he had no choice but to endure her presence. Slowly, over time his hatred turned to love.
He begun to see the beauty in imperfection. He wanted to spend eternity with her, but he knew that would never come to pass. She was a human, therefore; she was subject to the passage of time. This did not matter to him. He was more than willing to watch her grow old, but this would never come to pass. There were those within heaven that saw his blooming happiness, and decided to put an end to it. Through, perhaps it had more to do with her growing stomach than anything else. He might have been a fallen angel, but this did not mean he wasn't immune to the same no breeding with the humans policy as the other angels. Either way, she was killed.
Aodren was outraged. He demanded to have an audience with those responsible for the order that killed his beloved. Much to his surprise, he received what he had wanted. He was taken into heaven. He demanded to know why she was killed, and he was simply told that angel and human are not allowed to breed. He reminded them that he was not an angel, anymore. He had been cast from heaven. They told him this could be remedied. All he had to do was ask for forgiveness. He refused. He will not ask for forgiveness from the likes of them. He refused to submit to their will any longer, and with that uttered he turned, tearing the last remnants of his grace from him. It was in that moment he became a demon.
There are those that claim that this was how the race of demons were created. Others claim that they have always existed, but were simply waiting for their rightful king. Either way, he became the ruler of hell. The angels who had been cast out of heaven with him as punishment for the role they played in the rebellion of heaven became demons as well. They were not the only one. Other angels fell from grace, and became demons, as well. In fact, angels were not the only one who could make this transformation as well. Other beings--such as humans--could, also.
Countless years passed until he found her again. His beloved. He vowed that he would never lose her again. So, he decided to steal half her soul and keep it inside a necklace so he can bring her back when she dies. Through, admittedly he didn't actually steal half-her soul. He acquired it fair and square, and the price had actually been her full soul. He, however, didn't tell her at first that he only wanted half her soul. Through, she would come to learn this knowledge. Just like her last life, the two fell in love but unlike her last life she would not die by the hands of others. She simply grew old and died. Her death still sadden him, but he knew he would see her again. He had half her soul, after all. He would bring her back once he found her 'perfect' body. One just simply cannot put a soul into any old body. They had to have certain criteria.
He ruled hell for awhile longer, but soon grew discontent with it. Eventually, he decided to give up his crown and wander the earth. Those within hell believed that he would eventually return, or perhaps they just greatly admire him as their king. Either way, they decided that any future leaders that came after him would be referred to as The Lucifer. They sometimes shorten it to just Lucifer, giving the notion to those outside of hell that he is still their king.
In order to separate himself from his position in hell, Aodren began taking new identities. Through, many demons actually do this on their own. There is power in a name, and to know a demon's name is to control them. However, Lucifer seems immune to this. Either Lucifer isn't his real name or he is too stubborn to bow to the will of others. That is for the individual to decide. Whatever the case. He roamed the earth, having countless different affairs and children. Most of his children he didn't know about. He simply slept with a woman, and moved on unaware that she was with child. There is only one woman he wish to settle down with, and that is the one whose soul he kept around his neck.
Present
His currant identity is Aodren Delacroix, and found his beloved's 'perfect' body. Better yet, it was the currant reincarnation of the half of her soul he didn't lock away inside the crystal. He was overjoyed at this news. He thought he could reunite the two halves together. He had learned other tricks that would keep her safe if death came knocking on her door. However, he arrived too late. An assassin had swept through her house and consumed the soul of her and most of her siblings before her youngest brother's power and an outside power put a stop to it. When he arrived her body was nothing more than an empty husk with maybe a mere sliver of the soul that once occupied it.
The one who had sent the assassin was one of his daughters. A girl who was clever enough to realize that the man who she called father wasn't actually her father and that her biological father was something 'supernatural' She never learned whom her father was, but that wasn't for lack of trying. She begun to explore many different supernatural societies and learn about many different supernatural beings. This was how she came to meet the assassin. This daughter was rather unremarkable with raw talent, but she was considered beautiful and had a way of wrapping people around her fingers. She was just unable to use this talent to convince his beloved's brother to be with her. So, she sent an assassin to kill his family in an attempt to convince him to do what she wanted. He refused. Instead, he sold his soul to a demon in order to save them.
It was too late, and Aodren found himself staring at his beloved's empty corpse for some time. He knew that she wasn't completely lost to him, but that did not mean he didn't mourn the half that was taken. That had been the half he had watch grow old. He had loved it just as he loved the half he wore around his neck. He took her body and placed the soul around his neck into it. He brought her back, telling her nothing of whom he really is while making sure she is taken care of. While he doesn't take an active role in the politics of hell, or even a role at all he is aware of the happen. He knows who bears the title of The Lucifer, and he is aware of the relationship he shares with his granddaughter.
